Volunteers

The Library offers volunteer opportunities to students entering 8th through 12th grades. Volunteer duties include assisting library staff with material handling and sorting, helping librarians with in-person children’s programming like story times and other special projects.

Donations

Your generous donation to the Library of gently used books or other materials is much appreciated. We accept donations of:

  • Books (hardcover or paperback)
  • Books on CD
  • DVDs
  • Music CDs

We will provide a receipt for items accepted for collections. The receipt may be used to show a donation for tax purposes. We are unable to assign an appraised value for donated items. You may wish to refer to IRS Taxpayer Information Publications 526, Charitable Contributions, and 561, Determining the Value of Donated Property, for assistance in deciding what value to claim for your donations. These publications can be found at Internal Revenue Services.

Examples of items that will not be accepted for donation:

  • Magazines, including National Geographic, loose or in bound volumes (except food magazines)
  • Encyclopedias
  • Reader's Digest Condensed Books
  • Law Books
  • Textbooks
  • Home-taped audio-visual materials
  • Computer software
  • Musty, mildewed, soiled or damaged items
